I’ve spent over 30 years leading teams across the US, Europe, and Asia — from VP roles at Red Hat to CTO roles at Microsoft. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that leadership is about people and how you lift others. Titles and strategies matter, but what really drives performance is trust, safety, and the space you create for people to grow.
My journey has taken me from Microsoft to Red Hat, from boardrooms to ultra-marathons. Along the way I’ve launched new businesses, made mistakes, built teams, and discovered that humility and integrity matter just as much as results. These are the lessons I now share with boards, executives, and leaders who want to create clarity, trust, and high performance.
Beyond business, I’ve written two books (Motivating Mavericks – The Secret to High-Performing Teams and Life of the Run), started the Run for Life project, and co-founded Let Kids Fly to support children’s education. For me, leadership has always been about purpose — lifting others as we go.

What began as a story of endurance and resilience from marathon & ultra-marathon running grew into a guide on how trust, culture, and human-centric leadership can unlock high performance.

Let Kids Fly
Some of us have been fortunate with the opportunities given to us in how we have developed and progressed our careers and our lives. However this is not the case for many children that don’t have the same opportunities. Vajira is the co-founder of Let Kids Fly Foundaion with a mission to create a world in which every child is empowered to achieve more.
Vajira is working together with his wife Kali and his sons to drive this mission in helping children with scholarships and other needed facilities.
